Heretto CCMS 23.2

Release 23.2 brings a long list of fixes and enhancements, especially to the Content Editor and Content Library. πŸ₯³

Note: Since January 2023, the Heretto CCMS release number represents the year, month, and day when the software version was released. For example, Heretto CCMS 23.1.26 was released on January 26, 2023. Our release notes are now published weekly and grouped under the monthly release number, like 23.1.

Branching

Now, the Branching Manager has a progress bar that provides details about what's happening. We also fixed an edge case related to filtering files by their status in a branching operation. πŸ‘Œ

Enhanced

  • We have optimized how differences are calculated in a branching operation which makes the process faster. On top of that, we added a progress bar to the Branching Manager that appears for maps with 1,000+ dependencies. Now, when you branch-merge or branch-replace such maps, you see a progress bar that provides details about what is happening. Before, the interface would only show Loading. You still only see Loading for smaller maps because for those the branching process happens too fast to show additional information.

Fixed

  • We have identified and fixed a branching edge case that happened when a file status name and value were different. When filtering content in a branching operation by such a status, files weren't filtered correctly. We're happy to share that that's no longer the case!

Content Editor

The Content Editor received a lot of love! Take a look! πŸ‘€

Enhanced

  • You can now add text with diacritics in comments and replies to comments and suggestions. Examples of diacritics include: Γ₯, Γ©, Γ§, Δ‡, Ε‚, ΓΆ, ΓΈ, Γ», ΕΊ.

  • You can now open the Resource Drawer from within the Content Editor for maps that are limited to viewing, commenting, or suggesting modes. When editing permissions are limited, the map structure appears with a gray background as usual, but you can now click the Show Resource Information icon to access the Resource Drawer without having to navigate back to the Content Library.

  • We have changed how the Content Editor renders Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), for example, checkmark-icon.svg. SVG files that don't have width specified in either the SVG file itself or the DITA width attribute are by default rendered with a width of five pixels. When width is specified in the SVG file or DITA attribute, that width overrides the default width of five pixels in the Content Editor.

Before the change, SVG files were larger in the Content Editor which caused issues with inline SVG files used, for example, for icons.

This change doesn't affect how the Content Editor renders annotated images.

  • Images added as key references (keyref), for example, <image keyref="key-value"/>, are correctly rendered in the Content Editor.

Fixed

We introduced a number of fixes to the Content Editor. Enjoy! 🍰

  • We have fixed an issue in Suggesting mode that caused two tracked changes to appear when adding a link to an external URL. Now, only one tracked change is added.

  • When you insert a note element in the Content Editor, by default, its type attribute is empty. Previously, when adding text to such a note, you would see no space between the automatically generated word Note and content added in the note. We fixed that and now the space is present in notes with both an empty and specified type attribute.

Note that this behavior only affected content rendering in the Content Editor. Output printed with the space.

  • When you drag and drop files on a map while holding Shift, an Insert drop-down menu opens with valid options for inserting that file, like data, keydef, and mapref. That did not work when you would drag and drop a map on a map. We fixed that and now that option is available for maps as well!

  • We have resolved an issue that previously prevented users from viewing the entire actions menu for the product information (prodinfo) element. Going forward, this problem has been resolved and you can now easily access all menu options.

Content Library

We introduced a number of enhancements and a fix to the Content Library. πŸ’ͺ🏽

Enhanced

  • The Resource Drawer now by default hides the Releases tab for non-DITA files, for example, CSS and JSON, as well as for media files like PNG, GIF, and SVG. Currently, the Releases tab is still visible for DITAVALs, however, in the future it will be hidden by default too.

    Note:

This behavior is configurable. To enable the Releases tab for non-DITA files, please contact your Customer Success Manager. This does not enable functionality to create a release for a non-DITA file, rather it enables you to view any release that includes the non-DITA file.

  • The History tab in the Resource Drawer now informs you that the preview can't be rendered for some file types. This shows for files like CSS, XML, JS, and DOCX.

  • You can now use periods as separators when adding files and folders to the system and renaming them. For example, my.file.name.dita, my.new.folder. The valid characters for file and folder names are:

    • lowercase letters (a-z)

    • uppercase letters (A-Z)

    • numbers (0-9)

    • underscore (_), dash (-), and period (.)

This applies to both adding files and folders and renaming files and folders.

  • We have updated wording related to moving files to Trash for consistency and clarity. The word recycled is no longer used. Instead, you can see deleted and moved to Trash.

  • You can now access the Heretto Community directly from the system. Simply click the Help button in the lower-right corner of Heretto CCMS and click the Heretto Community link. The Help button also enables you to navigate to our documentation site and support portal.

If you are not familiar with the Heretto Community, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Fixed

  • In the past, you could only sort files by a couple of default columns in the Content Library. Now, you can sort files by all default columns, Filename, Type, Status, and Modified, as well as by any custom columns created in Heretto CCMS.

On top of that, we have fixed an issue where sorting files did not work as expected. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

    Important:

This fix requires a reindexing operation. In case your columns still sort files incorrectly, contact your Customer Success Manager or the support team to schedule a maintenance window for reindexing.

Publishing

We managed to sneak in this one fix that you will appreciate if you use the PDF Generator and annotated images. πŸ™

Fixed

  • There was an issue in the PDF generator where annotated images did not publish correctly. It's now fixed so you can enjoy annotations in full again!

Reports

We added a small but important improvement to the Linked Topics out of Map Scope report. πŸ’―

Enhanced

  • We have improved the wording for the Linked Topics out of Map Scope report from Download linked topics not included in the map to Download the report. Now, there is no doubt as to what gets downloaded!
