We prepared a number of fixes and enhancements to the Assignments interface, Content Editor, and Localization. Enjoy!

Release Date

General Availability - November 25, 2022

Assignments

Assignments now behave correctly when you change the status of files and use both the Only require attention on (...) and When topics are added to or removed from the map (...) options. We also corrected the behavior of two additional assignment-related behaviors.

Fixed

  • First, let's have a small recap! 🤓 When you create an assignment for a map, you can filter files in that map to only include some files. You can do that based on their modification date or status. It's possible thanks to the Only require attention on (...) option. If configured that way, once added to the assignment, files can change their status automatically when you proceed through different stages in the assignment workflow. Are you following? Perfect! 🙌

Our assignments also enable you to automatically include files in or remove them from an assignment when they're added to or removed from a map. It's possible thanks to the When topics are added to or removed from the map (...) option.

When used separately, each of these options behaved correctly. However, if you used both of those options in one assignment, you'd get an unexpected result.

With the above setup, if anything caused the assigned In Progress files to change their status, they would be excluded from the assignment because they no longer satisfy the file status criteria. Also, if files in the Heretto_Coffee_Brewing_Guide.ditamap that were originally excluded from the assignment suddenly met the file status criteria, they would be added to the assignment. As a result, the scope of that assignment would change as the assignment progressed which was not ideal.

With the latest fix, files won't be dynamically removed from or added to the assignment when both options are used.

  • The Show Document option is now visible again 👀. It is present for files that belong to a map in an assignment but are excluded from that assignment.

  • When you sorted assignments, then scrolled through them, you'd reach a point when instead of seeing the next results, you were taken to the beginning of your sorted list. We fixed that behavior and now you can scroll through your sorted assignments with no issue. 😊

Content Editor

Our Content Editor received two enhancements and a fix. It's now much easier to use the required-cleanup element, links to steps and substeps are now pretty ✨, and context maps populate correctly after when switching between maps.

Enhanced

  • While working on your content, sometimes you might want to highlight the content that requires a bit of cleanup. Aside from a file status or the draft-comment element, you can also use the required-cleanup element for easy tracking. We've added some nifty styling to it so that your authors can easily locate it right after opening a topic. Content wrapped in that element won't appear in your published output. Remember to remove it when you're done cleaning up! 🧹

  • You might have noticed that up to this point, when you created a link to steps or substeps, the link text for those links in the Content Editor would show as a file path. We decided it would be way more helpful if the link instead indicated the step it links to. From now on, the default link text shows numeric values for steps, and alphanumeric values for substeps. Of course, you're more than welcome to add your custom link text, but remember that it is static and won't update dynamically if you change the order of your steps.

Fixed

  • In the past, when switching between different maps, your context map would not update correctly in the Content Editor. It was locked on the first context map you selected. Because we fixed this behavior, the context map now populates with the correct context map.

Localization

We fixed two behaviors related to the Translation Memory Mode and the Compare with source option.

Fixed

  • We fixed an issue that made it seem like changes made in the Translation Memory Mode were not saved. They were saved, but to see them you had to reopen the Translation Memory Mode. Now, all changes are saved and visible the moment you press the Close button! ✔

  • When trying to compare your translation with the source content by using the Compare with source option in the Locales tab, the source part of the comparison wouldn't load and you could only see half of the picture 🌗. We fixed it and now you can see the full picture again! 🌕
