Connecting Heretto CCMS and Oxygen offers a range of functionalities, including:

• Browsing folders and scanning files

• Creating and editing files

• Copying files

• Deleting files

• Retrieving file properties such as last modified, file owner, and more

• Locking and unlocking files

Heretto supports two methods that enable you to connect Heretto CCMS and Oxygen:

• WebDAV connection with Oxygen

• Windows® only: Configuration script to enable the Open in Oxygen option

  Note:

  For macOS®, when installing Oxygen XML Author or Oxygen XML Editor version 21 or higher, the Open in Oxygen option gets enabled automatically.

WebDAV connection with Oxygen

A connection that uses the Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) protocol to interact with files stored on a remote web server. WebDAV enables users to interact with files on a server as if it were a local file system.

Important considerations:

• The WebDAV connection is required to use Oxygen products with Heretto CCMS.

• Once the WebDAV connection is configured, you are ready to open resources hosted in Heretto CCMS from the Oxygen Data Source Explorer interface.

• Windows® only: To be able to open resources in Oxygen directly from the Heretto CCMS interface, you need to enable the Open in Oxygen option in Heretto CCMS.

Once the WebDAV connection is configured, your resources are kept in sync while you work in each system. When you have a resource that is open in one system, a lock is applied in the other system to prevent others from editing it. Once you close the resource, the lock is removed and other users can access the resource again.

Note:

Editing files through Oxygen makes it impossible for multiple authors and contributors to collaborate in one file simultaneously, which is possible when you work directly in the Heretto CCMS Content Editor.

Windows® only: Configuration script to enable the Open in Oxygen option

A file association configuration script for Windows® that runs a one-time configuration routine, enabling users to open files in Oxygen XML Author and Oxygen XML Editor directly from the Heretto CCMS interface.

Important considerations:

• The purpose of the script is to streamline the configuration of the optional Open in Oxygen option for Windows® users. The option enables you to open files in Oxygen directly from Heretto CCMS.

• The script is not required to use Oxygen products with Heretto CCMS. If you do not want to use the Open in Oxygen option, you only need to connect Heretto CCMS and Oxygen (explained above).

• The script does not handle any communication or file modification with Heretto CCMS.

• For compatibility with new, major Oxygen versions, Heretto provides updates to the configuration script within six months from a major Oxygen release, ensuring support for both the latest and the two previous major Oxygen versions.

• Due to Windows® and macOS® limitations, only one version of Oxygen product installed on a user's computer can use the Open in Oxygen option at a time.

You can connect Heretto CCMS with these Oxygen products:

• Oxygen XML Author

• Oxygen XML Editor

Oxygen support limitations:

• Heretto does not provide direct support for Oxygen software products; instead, Oxygen provides it within its own support services.

• Investigation/Remediation of issues caused by user errors in Oxygen that lead to content problems not related to Heretto software will be addressed through billed Professional Services.
